Balgownie has long experience with Chardonnay having planted its first vineyard with the variety in 1976. The wine has white peach and nectarine fruit with a toasty and creamy palate and a round finish.
Grown in the Yarra Valley on a south-eastern facing slope and overlooked by the Resort, this is an elegant and perfumed wine with lovely fruit that combines richness, complexity and elegance.
Shiraz has been continually produced in Bendigo for almost 50 years and this is a worthy successor. This is big powerful wine overflowing with flavour and intensity. Delightful to drink as a young wine, yet will reward careful cellaring.
An impressive, rich and complex wine with depth, excellent balance and length of palate that is a memorable match with roast lamb or a wine to cellar and savour with fifteen years bottle age.
"A wine crafted form the best 12 rows of the original '69 plantings, aged for a longer period in oak... this is a sumptuous show of force meeting regional style, rather than the compelling textural and aromatic study of the single block wines." 95/100 James Halliday Australian Wine Companion
To commemorate the exceptional achievement of Balgownie Estate reaching 50 years of age, we have created this limited edition Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon, produced entirely from the original vines planted in 1969.
This port-style wine has a complex array of flavours such as raisins, nuts, spice, plum and Christmas cake. The wine has a lovely finish with good balance, flavour concentration and a lingering finish.
