2006 Balgownie Estate Shiraz
Balgownie’s first vintage of shiraz was produced in 1972 from vineyards located at Maiden Gully outside of Bendigo. The 2006 was handpicked and traditionally fermented in open vats before being aged in French oak for 18 months. A beautiful, elegant wine from a consistent vintage that is beginning to show some developed characters with years of bottle age.

Tasting Notes
2006 vintage was a warm season blessed with good rainfall on the Estate. This resulted in an above average harvest (volume) and fruit of excellent quality. The Shiraz fruit displayed excellent colours and concentration. The Shiraz fruit was hand-plunged in a combination of traditional open ferments (hand plunged) and tank fermentation. It spent 18 months ageing in combination of new (30%) and seasoned French & US oak (70%).
